Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some questions we get frequently asked, however, if the information you are looking for is not here then please contact us and we'd be happy to answer your questions and discuss everything with you.

Question: How do I obtain a quote for you to play at my wedding?

Answer: Just contact us and one of us or Clare, our lovely assistant (she's the boss really..!) will check the calendar and if the date is free she will send you a quote.

Question: What is the booking process?

Answer: If we've sent you a quote for an available date we will send you two contracts, you will need to sign one and return it with a £50 deposit. This will hold your date. Then 2-3 weeks before the wedding, Clare will contact you again to complete a Gig Itinerary which lists all the information we need for your day.

Question: Can we come and see the band before booking?

Answer: We'd highly recommend seeing any band before you book them for your wedding. We get most of our gigs from people who have seen us play at a wedding, party or a gig (hence why we've had a few up North and West in recent years!). Unfortunately we do not play many pubilc gigs, only 2/3 per year, usually in London. If you 'like' our Facebook page we will keep you informed of upcoming gigs.

Question: Can we see your full set-list to choose songs?

Answer: Yes of course. Our set-list caters for all ages, although we definitely focus more on 'keep the dance-floor busy' and less on slow or background type tracks. We generally adapt the set to the audience and keep things quite flexible.

We prefer to put the set-list together ourselves, however, if there are songs you definitely want included, or a few you don't (no more than 3-4), then this is no problem. You will be amazed how many songs we get through in an hour and some of those listed we may merge into medleys etc. In a standard gig (2.5-3 hours etc) we will probably get through about 50 songs. The set-list is included in the Gig Itinerary mentioned above so you will have a chance to look through it then.

Question: Can you learn new songs?

Answer: We can learn new songs, particularly 'first songs' for weddings. Ideally we will need a couple of weeks notice to rehearse.

Question: What do you boys wear for a gig?

Answer: We always try to look very smart, even if we're playing pub gigs. Our standard dress is black shirts with our Plush Monkey purple ties, however, we have been asked to wear black tie for black tie events in the past which was no problem. If we play Scottish weddings then Pete & Andy can wear their kilts and for Christmas gigs one of us has been known to dress as our very own 'Plush Santa'! We wear smart jeans and polo-shirts to set-up and change before we start the gig.

Question: How long do you usually play for?

Answer: Usually two x 1-1.5hr sets, however, we can adjust this to fit your function. We can also play music through our PA between sets and after so the music never stops and there is no need for an additional DJ.

Question: How long do you take to set up and how much space do you need??

Answer: We take about 1-1.5hrs to set up and we'd say 15' x 8' is about enough space for us and all our equipment.

Question: Will it be possible to use your P.A and a microphone for announcements etc?

Answer: Yes no problem at all, although we will need to be set up beforehand.

Question: What power do you need?

Answer: This one comes up a lot! Especially as more and more weddings we play are in marquees. We require a minumum of 4 power sockets.

Question: What transport do you use? Do you need lots of parking spaces?

Answer: We need one large parking space for our car and Plush Monkey trailer..!

Question: Is your equipment PAT tested?

Answer: Yes, all our equipment is PAT tested and we have a certificate should your venue require a copy.

Question: Are you insured?

Answer: Yes we have public liability insurance and we have a certificate should your venue require a copy.

Question: Anything else..?

Answer: We will need somewhere to change after we've set up - this could be somewhere as nice as a hotel room or meeting room or as small as a toilet..! Also, some food/drink is always gratefully received :o).
